It is a digit generated by Ford and is different for every vin, that is why I need it to have a complete vin for the database.

It's calculated from the other digits in the VIN, it's used to catch errors in inputing the VIN number. I'll see if I can find someone that knows how to calculate it, else it's a good brain teaser for you.

If you find out I would like to know how it is done. Checked out the GM calculator but it doesn't work with the Ford number. If Ford does it anything like GM, that would be a real brain teaser.

I'm looking for a new Expedition, so I've been hitting the Ford dealers here in Houston. Spotted was a black premium, black accent package, hardtop, which can be yours for $5K over sticker.

I was driving by one of the local dealerships yesterday that I know was allocated 80+ T-Birds, and believe it or not they had 10-12 Birds lined up in a row in front of the dealership. I was told they had sold their entire allocation, but it looks like quite a few people either gave up waiting or backed out of their deal. Several of all colors, but I didn't stop to get pricing or VIN info.

The VIN is a federal gov. requirment, Ford and GM should be the same, I looked at the two web pages and could not find the difference. Help me out here...

I must have entered something wrong in to the equation when I did it for the GM, that is all I can think of.

I applied the GM method to my VIN and it worked! I suppose, Joe, you're doing something wrong. Try again!

When I re-did it using what I found on the Ford site it worked so I just did something wrong the first time around.
