Heres a photo of the strip George is talking about - looks nice doesn't it? Id want to put mylar on first before this strip to prevent it from leaving marks.

You could also put the Ford mylar over the chrome to protect it as well.
 
Update

For those of you interested, I have volunteered with a local supplier to have my car be a model for a Stainless Steel Strip, for the rear deck, that they are making.
This strip is .018 thick so should be okay to mount the hard top right over it. I'll have these installed and take pictures with HT off and on this week. 😎
 
New Strip installed

My new SS Steel, highly polished (mirror finish) strips are on. Pictures posted on thread "Hard Top Protection" if any one is interested. 😀
